April meeting and newsletter

We had a fabulous and informative meeting on Thursday.  We learned wise words of wisdom from our mentor mom, Lucy Ruth, and our guest speaker, Sara Nunn, about child discipline and parenting.  We have one more meeting left this year, May 15th.  We will have a safety expert visiting us to discuss how to keep our kids safe.  Please join us!

March meeting and newsletter

We had a great meeting last Thursday.  We had three couples from Bon Air take part in a marriage panel.  We all learned a lot and were blessed by their honesty and caring.  Be sure to come next month to MOTTS - the date is April 24th at 9:45 am.  We are discussing child discipline - always an interesting topic!!!

February 20 meeting

We had a very informative meeting yesterday.  Thank you to Brian Hennaman for sharing his wisdom on retirement and college planning.  Our next meeting is March 20th and we will have a safety expert teach us some strategy and techniques to keep our kids safe.  Please join us!

January 16, 2014 meeting

What a wonderful meeting we had today!  Thank you to Keri Collins for giving us great tips on being Godly moms.  It was such an inspirational meeting and we all left with a list of ways to be "mom of the year in God's eyes."

Verse to remember: James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

-learn from your parents - both good and bad

-always take time for your children and their interests

-nurture your faith journey and let your kids see you read your Bible, pray, etc.

-pray daily for your children

-work to create a special bond so they know that they can tell you anything

-model Christ-like behaviors - they are always listening!

-be involved in their lives and know their friends, interests, etc.

-don't close your eyes as to what is going on with your child and don't back away from those hard conversations

-find a friend and prayer partner to share with

-tell them you love them all of the time, not just when they do something praiseworthy

-help them develop their own relationship with God (buy devotional books, etc)

-take time for yourself!

January meetings!

Ready for a new year at MOTTS?  We have a couple of events planned in January that will be fun!

First up is our monthly coffee talk at our mentor mom, Lucy Ruth's house.  It will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 10 am.

Our next meeting is on Thursday, January 16th at 9:45 am.  Our speaker will be our pastor's wife, Keri Collins.  She is a great speaker and has raised three children so she will have lots of good advice for our group!  Please make plans to join us!

We had a wonderful meeting today!  We heard from Kathryn Lunsford, the former Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Christmas Mother.  What an amazing and needed program this is!  We also had a great time participating in an ornament exchange.  Check out the newsletter from today's meeting if you missed it!

Our next event is a coffee talk at Cordia's house on Friday, December 13th.  Take a break from all of the Christmas craziness and spend a morning chatting with friends!  Email Cordia at cvs423@yahoo.com for directions!  There will be a cookie swap going on at this event but it is totally optional!!!!

Our next meeting is Thursday, December 19th at 9:45 am.  We will be hearing from BABC's own Kathryn Lunsford, who was last year's Chesterfield Christmas Mother.  If you would like, please bring a small new toy to donate to the Christmas Mother program.
